Overview

Seamless Steel Tubes for Mechanical and Heat-Transfer Applications

HYT supplies seamless carbon and alloy steel tubes through order-based sourcing for mechanical components, heat exchangers, condensers, boilers and industrial equipment. After receiving the buyer's purchase specification, HYT reviews the applicable product standard, steel grade, dimensions, tolerances, delivery condition, quantity, processing scope and inspection requirements, and then coordinates suitable mill, stock or processing resources before confirming the supply conditions.

Seamless steel tube purchasing is generally based on actual dimensions and controlled performance requirements. In addition to outside diameter and wall thickness, inside diameter, straightness, hardness, surface condition and heat-treatment condition may need to be specified according to the final application.

High-Pressure JIS G3461 STB410 Seamless Carbon Steel Tube for Boilers

Mechanical and Precision Tubing

Mechanical tubing requirements are reviewed according to the specified steel grade, actual dimensions, dimensional tolerances, delivery condition and subsequent machining or forming process. Depending on the final component, the buyer may need to control the outside diameter, wall thickness or inside diameter, as well as straightness, hardness and machining suitability.

High-Pressure JIS G3461 STB410 Seamless Carbon Steel Tube for Boilers

Note: Mechanical tubing and boiler or heat-transfer tubing are governed by different product standards, dimensional rules, testing requirements and acceptance criteria. The standards and grades listed above are common purchasing references rather than interchangeable material specifications. Final material selection must follow the buyer's purchase specification and intended service. Manufacturing feasibility, availability, MOQ and estimated lead time are confirmed separately for each inquiry.

Standards & Specifications

Standards, Grades and Dimensional Requirements

Seamless steel tubes should be selected according to the applicable product standard and intended service. Tubes with similar dimensions are not automatically interchangeable because different standards may specify different chemical compositions, mechanical properties, dimensional tolerances, heat-treatment conditions and testing requirements.

HYT reviews the required standard, grade, actual dimensions, delivery condition and inspection scope, and confirms technical feasibility and availability with suitable supply and processing resources. The buyer's purchase specification and approved technical requirements remain the final basis for supply.

Mechanical and Precision Tube Standards

How to Specify Seamless Steel Tube Dimensions
High-Pressure JIS G3461 STB410 Seamless Carbon Steel Tube for Boilers

Unlike pipe, which is commonly ordered by NPS and Schedule, seamless steel tube is generally specified using its actual outside diameter and wall thickness. Inside diameter may also be specified when it is a controlled dimension for machining, assembly or fluid-system applications.

Typical dimensional expressions include:

  • OD 50 mm × WT 5 mm × L 6000 mm
  • OD 60 mm × ID 45 mm × L 3000 mm
  • OD 25.4 mm × minimum WT 2.11 mm × L 6000 mm

OD, ID and wall thickness are interrelated, and any two dimensions normally determine the third for a round tube. When more than one dimension is critical, the buyer should identify which dimensions and tolerances must be controlled. The ordered dimensions must remain technically consistent with the applicable standard and the confirmed manufacturing capability of the selected supply source.

Specification Item Information to Provide Why It Matters
Outside Diameter Specified OD in millimetres or inches Determines component fit, tube-sheet matching or assembly dimensions
Wall Thickness Nominal, minimum or average wall thickness as required Affects strength, heat transfer, forming and final inside diameter
Inside Diameter Required ID and tolerance when controlled Important for machining, hydraulic components and internal clearance or fit
Dimensional Tolerances Standard tolerances or agreed special tolerances Control suitability for assembly and subsequent processing
Length Random length, fixed length or exact cut length with tolerance Affects processing, installation and material utilization
Straightness Standard requirement or specified maximum deviation Important for machining, rotating parts and automated processing
Manufacturing / Delivery Condition Hot-finished, cold-finished or cold-drawn condition, with specified heat treatment when required Influences dimensions, hardness, surface condition and mechanical properties
Note: Available dimensions and tolerances vary by the applicable standard, steel grade, manufacturing condition and order quantity. HYT reviews special dimensional requirements with suitable supply resources before quotation rather than applying one general size range to every order.
